Elephant Moments at Jabulani Safari

Hoedspruit And Kapama Private Game Reserve

Activity Description

Be inspired, enlightened, educated and enthused by this memorable and respectful opportunity to meet and learn more about some of the Jabulani herd elephants and their passionate carers.

Arrive at sunrise to meet a few members of an extraordinary family, the Jabulani Herd. Delve deeper into the biology and physiology of these gentle giants while learning about each elephant’s unique personalities and remarkable stories.

The respectful 90-minute experience takes place at the Jabulani elephant stables, which borders the HERD elephant orphanage. The Orphanage does not allow the public to visit their premises or to view the orphans, to keep their stress levels to a minimum.

The Jabulani Herd elephants that you will meet represent the rest of the herd which they join a little later to continue foraging during their days in the Kapama Private Reserve. There will be between two to three elephants introduced who remain behind a low partition creating a respectful distance between the elephants and the visitors. They include Jabulani, Sebakwe and Somopane.

Visitors will have an opportunity to provide some elephant snacks to each elephant, as well as a chance to take a snapshot memory of the memorable experience, with the guidance of the carers.

Complimentary coffee and tea with biscuits will be provided upon arrival and available to enjoy until the end of the experience.

Following your Elephant Moments experience, you will have the opportunity to purchase a souvenir in our gift shop, with proceeds going towards the Jabulani HERD’s wellbeing and the HERD Orphanage.

Please note: the Jabulani Lodge Guests enjoy a variety of exclusive elephant experiences different to the Elephant Moments Mornings. For more information about the lodge experience go to www.jabulanisafari.com

Customer Reviews

Great experience with great and kind staff. I enjoyed the encounter with each amazing elephant. The only thing I wish we had was some contact with the toddler elephant. But I can understand why we didn’t. :) - Marina Pontes Oliveira

It was an absolutely amazing experience and a very humbling experience with these gentle giants. Elephants are truly wonderful creatures. The handlers are amazing with the elephants. Stunning location and service. - Jenny

It was a very good drive. Although I stayed in Hoedspruit for a few year when I was young I learned a few things on the drive. - Erna - Safarilicious # Pawlak

We had a most amazing time with all 4 elephants who came to us, interacted with us if they wanted - which they did and left when they wanted to. This was certainly the most ethical elephant interaction we could find and was more than worth the money we paid for such close up experiences of their magnificent elephants. Whilst no experience with wild animals is 100% ethical it is clear that these were all habituated due to a past pefore camp Jabulani and as such this place offers them care and a life which they would otherwise not have had. An awesome day and a lifetime memories. - Mr Paul Cadmore

Though it was nice and chilly outside, with the sun just getting in its position in the sky, once the gentle giants were visible all the cold and sleepiness leaves you and only awe and a feeling of utter insignificant are left in their presence. The guides all knew their facts and the background story really helped to paint the picture of how fate have brought these amazing creates to where they are. It is always a highlight and an experience that all my students will remember when they think of South Africa. Thanks for this opportunity. I will be back. - JOHAN
